4.8 is the final patch of the 4.x branch, known in the West as "Upheaval" (North America) and "Wind of Fate" (Europe, released in October 2015). In this version the level cap is raised to 65 and all twelve classes are available, including the Gunner and Songweaver added in patch 4.0. 4.8 is one of the most widely hosted versions on private Aion servers.

Unlike Classic (1.x–2.x), 4.8 already includes the Gunner and Songweaver, the Glory Points system and a level cap of 65. Compared with versions 5.0 and later, 4.8 lacks the reworked progression and more aggressive monetisation introduced afterwards. For this reason 4.8 is often called the last "classic" branch with mature PvE and PvP balance.

Narratively, 4.8 sees the regions of Katalam and Danaria destroyed and replaced by new territories with their own battles and a concluding instance.
